Residents along a major portion of Baseline Road may have some sleepless nights this summer.
Crews will be doing resurfacing work on Baseline between Woodroffe Avenue and Prince of Wales Drive starting Tuesday.
The $4.2 million project is long overdue, but to make sure it's completed by the end of September, crews will be working weekends.
They'll also be working overnight and that could cause some noise issues.
Generally, construction work isn't allowed during the overnight hours, but the city has granted an exemption in this case.
To try to minimize traffic backups, crews won't be working during morning and afternoon rush hours along the five-kilometre stretch, but there will still be inevitable delays as the old pavement is ground off and the new asphalt is applied.
