Police in Ottawa and across Ontario are calling their prescription drug drop-off day a huge success.
Police held drop-off depots in parking lots across the province on May 10th. O.P.P. say they collected close to 140 kilograms of unwanted meds, including codeine and oxycodone.
Ottawa police say citizens in Ottawa dropped off more than a kilogram of old medication.
They say removing old medication from homes is part of broader efforts to combat prescription drug abuse.
You're reminded you can continue to do your part to combat this serious public health threat by returning unwanted or outdated prescription medications to your local pharmacy for safe and secure disposal at any time.
