Ottawa Paramedics say a 49-year-old woman was out for a jog in Kanata as clouds started to form overhead Thursday evening.
She was on Eagleson, near Hope Side Road, when a bolt of lightning struck nearby. It was so close it knocked her to the ground.
When medics arrived, they found the woman had suffered cuts and bruises to her face, knees, and hands.
She was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
All of Eastern Ontario was under a special weather statement from Environment Canada Thursday evening. Thunderstorms in the area were said to bring torrential rain, frequent lightning, and even hail up to 2cm in diameter.
