Police make an arrest in string of thefts from vehicles in Centretown

The Ottawa Police have made an arrest after a number of car break-ins in the Centretown area.

John McGee, 51, is accused of using a tool to break car windows in the Preston, Somerset, Cambridge and Gladstone area between May 14 and May 23.

McGee has been charged with:

  • Four counts of mischief
  • One count of possession of stolen property
  • One count of attempted theft
  • Three counts of Breach of Undertaking
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation orders

He is expected to be back in court on Tuesday.

Police are reminding the public to lock their doors and stash any valuables left in the car, keep them out of sight, in order to deter theft.
