Family and friends of Eric Leighton will meet Monday night for a special memorial service to mark the third anniversary of his death.
Leighton was killed May 26, 2011 in a shop class explosion at Mother Teresa High School. His death was formally ruled an accident at a coroner's inquest held this spring.
Dozens of recommendations were also made to prevent future similar deaths.
That inquest provided a level of closure for Leighton's parents who learned many of the details of their son's death for the first time during that inquest.
Tonight they'll gather at the place where he's buried to send lanterns into the sky at the hour he was pronounced dead.
They say they'll never move on but they want to move forward with their lives.
But first, Monday night, they will celebrate Eric Leighton's life, remembering the born leader who brought a smile to everyone's face.
