Police seek suspect in two south-end holdups

Ottawa police are searching for a suspect after two robberies in the south end earlier this month.

On the evening of May 15th, a man armed with a knife entered a convenience store in North Gower.

He made off with cash -- no one was injured.

Five days later, the same man hit a convenience store in Osgoode.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 40-50 years of age, standing about six feet tall, and of medium build with a potbelly.

He had medium-length "salt & pepper" coloured hair, and was English speaking.

Police say he may be driving a damaged gold-coloured Nissan Altima.

The victim of the second robbery followed the suspect out of the store and repeatedly struck the passenger side windshield of the vehicle, causing significant damage.

Anyone with information with respect to these robberies, or any other robbery, is asked to contact the Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS) or toll free at 1-800-222-8477.
