Royal Swans to be released Friday morning

It's an annual tradition!

The Royal Swans will be released along the Rideau River Friday morning.

At 11:30 a.m., Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Mark Taylor will open the gates to release the 12 swans into the water for this year's season.

The birds were a gift from the Queen in 1967 as part of Canada's 100th birthday celebration.

The festivities will be at Brantwood Park on Clegg Avenue.
