Vendors will leave Sparks Street market if hot food banned

The Sparks Street BIA is set to decide whether they'll allow vendors in the new Thursday, Friday Sparks Street Farmers' Market to continue selling hot food.

If they rule against it, vendors are planning to leave.

And it's not just the vendors selling hot food.

Joanne Just owns Just Farms and said to come to this market they have had to hire extra staff, plant more crops and buy new equipment. Plus they drive in from Alexandria every day.

"We all help out each other so, we'll have to wait and see what happens but I'm pretty sure if they leave, we'll leave," she said.

The owner of Gordz Hot Sauce said he's considering departing, too, since a market with just three stalls wouldn't be viable.

Restaurants reportedly complained to the BIA the stall were taking away their customers.

The BIA is set to rule on the decision Friday afternoon.
