A 14-year-old Ottawa girl has been killed in a crash near Watertown, New York.
State police say Carine Rabay was travelling with family members on Interstate 81 on Sunday at about 4PM when their SUV went off the left shoulder, hit a guiderail and overturned near a steep embankment.
Carine - who wasn't wearing a seatbelt - was ejected from the vehicle.
She was pronounced dead on scene.
Her 44-year-old mother and 9-year-old sister were airlifted to hospital in serious condition though they are expected to recover.
Carine's 50-year-old father and 77-year-old grandmother were treated and released.
The young teen was in Grade 8 at Frank Ryan School in Nepean.
A written statement from Principal John Pedari says students and staff were informed of her death this afternoon.
Student services staff from the Ottawa Catholic School Board were called in to provide additional comfort and support.
