A massive fire engulfed a home in the Overbrook West area.
At least 15 fire trucks and around 40 firefighters were on scene battling the blaze, which destroyed a vacant home on Presland Road and the Vanier Parkway.
Fire crews got the call reporting smoke and flames around 7:50 a.m. Saturday morning. They had the blaze under control around 8:50 a.m.
Fire crews remained on scene for an extra hour, until around 10:15 a.m., to monitor hotspots.
The vacant home was in the process of being demolished. No injuries have been reported.
Marc Messier with Ottawa Fire Service tells CFRA the cause will likely go undetermined because it is too risky to send an investigator into the home. The abounded home could collapse at any minute. He also says there will be no dollar figure for the damage since the building was being demolished.
There are reports that it is the site of a former convent.
Ottawa Police have now taken over the investigation.
