The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) took to the streets of downtown Ottawa to rally the youth vote Tuesday afternoon.
The national students' union isn't encouraging students vote for any particular party, but say youth involvement in the provincial election is important since post-secondary education is a provincial issue. In fact, the union has been critical of all three parties' platforms on post-secondary education.
Nicole Desnoyer, with the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa, says she wants to see more coming from provincial representatives on student issues.
"Post-secondary education just isn't a governmental priority," she said. "Students aren't seeing their best interests reflected in the policies coming out of Queen's Park."
Some of the things the CFS says it wants to see is the end of unpaid internships, a reduction in tuition fees, and better policies for student discounts and fares on public transit.
