A part of Lees Avenue will be closed all summer, starting Monday.
The City says the section of Lees from Chapel Crescent to the Transitway will be closed for about 13 weeks to replace the overpass over Highway 417.
Vehicle traffic, including OC Transpo Route 16, will be diverted down Main Street and Greenfield Avenue during the work. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted down the Rideau River pathway via Robinson Avenue.
The Lees Avenue bridge will be removed starting Saturday June 21 at 6:00 p.m., and ending Sunday June 22 at 11:00 a.m. The 417 will be closed in both directions for the work, and will open to a single lane in both directions Sunday morning. All lanes will be open before Monday's morning rush.
Construction in the area will also include sewer and road rehabilitation on a section of Lees between Main Street and Chestnut Street. It will include replacing catch basins, installing new ones, replacing fire hydrants, street lights, sidewalks and curbs, and reconstructing and resurfacing the road.
That work is expected to wrap up in November.
