Students safe after gun scare on Alta Vista

The Ottawa Carleton District School Board says all of its students at schools in the Alta Vista Drive area are safe, and were "never in danger" after reports of a man with a gun in the area forced Charles H. Hulse Public School, Featherston Drive Public School, Alta Vista Public School, and Ridgemont High School to enter lockdown mode.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Alta Vista, near Bank and Walkley, upon receiving the report just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday. No threat was found following a grid-search and investigations with K-9 units.

Police gave the all clear at 3:30.

No one was hurt, and no arrests were made.
