Work has begun on the Coventry Road pedestrian and cycling bridge

Crews were busy overnight Thursday into Friday, working to get the pre-fabricated Coventry Road pedestrian and cycling bridge put together.

The 417 was closed sporadically as the bridge went up over the busy highway.

Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Peter Clarke will be speaking about the new bridge on Friday, which will make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get from Ottawa Stadium to the incoming new LRT line.

And this is the type of bridge system they should have built across the Airport Parkway instead of that silly art-form that the National Capital Commission and the City came up with.

    Fast, functional, inexpensive.
