New indoor playground to open in Orleans next spring

A new indoor play centre for kids is coming to Orleans as early as next year.

The new play centre and day care centre will be called Kids Kingdom, and will feature a daycare for up to 80 kids.

Orleans councillor Bob Monette says an indoor playground has been something Orleans parents have been looking for.

"Many of our young families and children have to go outside of our community when it comes time to go to interior playground areas such as Cosmic Adventures that they have on Ogilvie Road," he says.

Monette says the centre will create 35 new jobs, most of which will be full-time, professional positions. The centre will cost $5 million to build and will be privately funded.

Correction: A previous version of this story said the funding for Kids Kingdom would come from the City of Ottawa.  We regret the error.
