Two kitchen fires keep Ottawa Fire busy Monday afternoon

Two kitchen fires brought crews to addresses on Caldwell Avenue and Cambridge Street Monday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire says they received a call around noon that a pot of oil was on fire on a stove at 281 Cambridge Street.  When crews arrived the fire had spread to a wall and the cupboards.  One woman was treated for minor smoke inhalation and damage is estimated at $25,000.

A second call was received around 1 p.m. reporting a cooking pot on fire left in the hallway of a building at 1485 Caldwell Avenue.  That fire didn't spread, and caused smoke damage estimated at $20,000.
