Council OKs $400K for crisis housing

City council is green lighting a proposal for some much needed emergency housing.

Two extra floors at the Y on Argyle Avenue will be converted into space for 30 families that will also offer access to kitchen and laundry facilities and free childcare.

The city currently has 64 family units but those have been full for years.

The project will cost taxpayers $400,000, while the Y has secured another $500,000 via private donations.
