A major announcement was expected Wednesday afternoon on the status of the Gee Gees men's hockey team from University of Ottawa president Allan Rocke.
The announcement is expected to reveal whether the team will be allowed to play this season.
The entire team was suspended in March after allegations some of the members may have been involved in a case of sexual assault.
No one has been formally charged and the allegations came from a third party.
Several players have been interviewed by the Thunder Bay Police who said the alleged assault happened while the Gee Gees were in town on the Feb. 1 weekend playing the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Many players have spoken out against being punished as a team while the allegations remain unproven.
A post on the men's hockey team website reads "the 2014-2015 schedule will be available shortly," but it's unclear if that means the men will take the ice.
