The Casino du Lac Leamy Sound of Light, the annual fireworks competition, begins in less than a month, and organizers are promising it will be bigger and better than ever this year.
Organizers revealed Thursday more details about the show that will for the first time take place at the Canadian Museum of History.
This year's competition features displays from Hong Kong, Canada, Portugal and Switzerland.
The fireworks will be launched from the Ottawa River and Sound of Light G-M Annie Spooner told CFRA they will be even bigger than the ones seen on Canada Day.
"In our competitions we get to use material that is not allowed normally because it's perfectly controlled," she said. "These teams bring us stuff that we don't get to normally see in regular fireworks shows, so for us it's very exciting."
She said the Grand Ginale will be a can't miss.
"This year the Grand Finale has a theme," said Spooner. "It's called Road Trip, so it's songs ... basically celebrating summer nights. You get in your car, lower the windows, crank up the speakers and drive down, so Route 66, Chuck Berry, Tom Cochrane."
This year there will be SAQ bistros, concerts, games and even food trucks on site for visitors.
Tickets cost $5 for those 12 and older. Access to the site is free for those 11 and under.
Gatineau's bus service, the STO will offer shuttles from two locations - the Loblaws Plateau and the Robert-Guertin Arena. Parking at those locations is free, but the shuttle costs $5 for a round trip. It will also accept STO tickets and passes.
Parking is also available at the museum or Gatineau City Hall.
The show runs from August 2nd until the 16th.
