NHLer Giroux apologizes to officer, Ottawa Police

Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux has issued a written statement about his arrest in the Byward Market.

Giroux - who lives in the Ottawa area - was taken into custody on Canada Day, reportedly after grabbing a male police officer's buttocks.

In the statement, the NHL star calls the incident a "misguided attempt at humour" and apologizes to the officer and Ottawa Police.

No charges were laid.
