Canadian blood supply hits six-year low, the need for donors is up

It's in you to give, but it seems many people aren't rolling up their sleeves to make a donation.

Canadian Blood Services say that the country's blood supply is at a six-year low.

They are making an urgent appeal for donors, especially those with blood types O and A.

The organization says that they could soon be in a situation where they can't meet hospital demand, meaning the potential for cancelling of elective and routine treatments.

The Ottawa Hospital says they are monitoring the situation but that patients are not affected at this time.

If you would like to make a donation, call 1-888-2-DONATE or book an appointment online by clicking here.
