Sir John Carling Building demolished with quick dynamite blasts Sunday morning

Hundreds of spectators gathered across from Dow's Lake Sunday morning to watch the demolition of the Sir John Carling Building on the Experimental Farm.

The historic building, built in 1967, was imploded with controlled dynamite blasts just before 7 a.m. People all around the city reported hearing the sound when the building went down, a process that took 6 or 7 seconds.

The 11-storey building was the headquarters of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada.
