Sod down at Lansdowne urban park, REDBLACKS riding bikes to stadium

The urban park at Lansdowne is starting to take shape.

11,000 square metres of sod has been laid down.

D&G Landscaping's Doug Clunie tells CTV Ottawa the apple orchard in the northeast corner is already producing fruit.

Despite the sod being down, people aren't allowed on the grass until it sets.

The urban park is set to open August 15th.

Meanwhile, members of the Ottawa REDBLACKS football team are following team management's suggestion to not drive to Lansdowne.

About 20 players have been riding bikes to practice.

Wide receiver Paris Jackson says he plans to do the same on game nights, joking that he may need to buy snow tires for the October schedule.
