New mayoral candidate enters the ring

There is another candidate running for Mayor of Ottawa, bringing the total to four.

Darren W. Wood of Stittsville says he's running on a platform of financial accountability.

He plans to balance the budget, hold a 0 per cent tax increase for 2015 and 2016, eliminate the green bin and freeze council salaries and budgets, among other moves.

A release from his campaign team states that Wood has been involved in politics for almost 20 years as a candidate, fundraiser and campaign manager.

He previously owned and managed a construction company but sold it to move to politics full time.

Wood joins Mike Maguire and Robert White in a bid to unseat incumbent Jim Watson.

The municipal election is October 27.
