Ottawa man faces firearms, impaired driving charges after pull over

Ottawa Police say a man is facing several firearms and driving-related charges, after police stopped a car south of Montreal Road.

Police say they stopped a car in the area of Bathgate Drive and Gulf Place around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Following the stop, 27-year-old Bens Therassan was charged with impaired driving and unlawful possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

He's also charged with careless storage of a firearm, possessing a firearm dangerous to public peace, possessing a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm without a license knowingly, and possessing a firearm obtained by crime.

Therassan is to appear in court Sunday morning.
