Ottawa Police have charged a 25-year-old man in connection with a string of retail robberies that took place over a one-month period.
Police say the same suspect robbed five convenience stores in the early morning hours between June 24th and July 16th. In each case, he made verbal demands for money and cigarettes.
In one case, the suspect knocked a person unconscious as he robbed a store on Tompkins Avenue. He stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene and leaving the victim unconscious on the floor.
In another case, he tied up a clerk at a store on Tapiola Crescent and fled with money and cigarettes.
Desmond Manolakos has been charged with five counts of robbery, five counts of wearing a disguise and one could of assault causing bodily harm among other crimes.
He is scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
