Different day, but same place, same message.
Ottawa Liberal MPPs gathered at the locks of the Ottawa River once again Friday to announce the province would be funding one third of the Ottawa River Action Plan.
And Mayor Jim Watson couldn't be more thankful.
"It's not every day that you get an opportunity to say thank you twice in the span of about 12 weeks," he said. "We were here not too long ago and I distinctly remember it was somewhat of a surreal experience because we were all standing up there announcing some very good news for the Ottawa River clean up and then right in the middle of one of the speeches, the election was called."
The province is pledging to contribute $65-million to the city for the plan, which would ensure thousands of litres of raw sewage are no longer dumped into the Ottawa River.
The project still has not secured federal funding.
