Thunder Bay Police say they will soon be able to update the public on their investigation into an alleged sexual assault that took place in the Northern Ontario city while the University of Ottawa Gee Gees were in town.
The alleged assault, involving multiple members of the varsity men's hockey team, took place over the February 1st weekend while the Gee Gees were in town to play the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Thunder Bay Police spokesperson Chris Adams tells CFRA they expect to update the public later this week or early next week.
The University suspended the entire men's hockey program once it learned of the allegations.
Several players - who say they have been cleared by police - plan to launch a defamation lawsuit against the university, saying the move tarnished their good names.
