A Ford recall of police interceptors is being dealt with by Ottawa Police who own more than 50 of the recalled cars.
They're cycling the cars through the dealership whenever they're not needed on patrol. The upgrades to the effected drive shaft are not impacting police service.
However police say there have been a few instances where there are more officers on patrol than cars scheduled so officers are doubling up on very rare occasions.
Thirty-five new police interceptors approved for purchase by the board are 2015 models and are therefore not affected by the recall.
