Gatineau speeder caught doing 185 km/h

A 22 year old Gatineau man is facing a $3,500 and 22 points off his license for speeding.

Quebec Provincial Police tried to pull over a motorcyclist over along Highway 105 near Old Chelsea shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

But the biker took off, reaching speeds of 185 kilometers an hour.

Police abandoned the chase over safety concerns.

Gatineau police were called in to assist.

They finally caught the motorcyclist when he lost control of his bike at the Highway 50 exit at Boulevard de la Gappe.

He suffered only minor injuries.

Police say the driver only had a learner's permit.
