Eastern Ontario blanketed by severe thunderstorm warnings Saturday

Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm warnings for many parts of Eastern Ontario Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa South, Richmond, and Metcalfe was issued around 7:00 p.m. Saturday. The warning ended at 8:15 p.m.

The communities of Prescott, Russell, Brockville, Merrickville, Wolford, Kemptville, Cornwall, Lancaster, Maxville, Alexandria, Morrisburg and Long Sault had also been issued severe thunderstorm warnings. Those warnings were lifted by 8:30 p.m.

By 6:10 p.m. Saturday, the warning for Smiths Falls, Perth, and Eastern Lanark County had ended.

Environment Canada was warning of several clusters of thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, dime to nickel size hail and torrential rain.
