Fire cuts through Stittsville area home

Fire has severely damaged a home in Stittsville.

The fire started in the kitchen, spread to the attic, and then through the roof of the home Monday morning.

Crews got the 911 calls just after 10:30 a.m. for heavy smoke coming from a house on Lloydalex Crescent.

The residents were not home at the time, and firefighters had the fire out in about 20 minutes.

Damage is estimated at $450,000.

No one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.
