Ontario Provincial Police in Renfrew say the two little girls who went missing near Calabogie Monday night have been found safe.
The nine-year-old and 11-year-old were camping on Airds Lake Road in the Township of Greater Madawaska when they vanished around 10 p.m.
"They were playing a game of hide-and-seek with some friends and when they couldn't be located at the end of the game, some adults assisted in searching for them and when the adults couldn't find them either, we were contacted," Const. Janice Sawbridge told CFRA.
Police conducted an expansive ground and air search for the girls; an OPP helicopter was called in to help Tuesday morning, along with an additional canine unit and officers on foot.
Sawbridge said investigators assumed the two had wandered into the bush and gotten lost, adding they were concerned about them because of nearby water and insects in the bush.
The girls, who are from Barrie and North Frontenac Township, are said to be in good health.
