Family home destroyed by fire in Embrun

Fire crews in Embrun had to call for some backup to deal with a massive blaze at a country home on Saturday afternoon.

Six Ottawa Fire trucks and a number of firefighters from the capital helped put out a fire at the home on St. Guillome Road.

Flames spread to a barn on the property as well.

Embrun Fire officials say the home is a total loss as the blaze did $450,000 in damages.

No one was home when the fire broke out, the family was away at the cottage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
