Jim Watson officially opens campaign headquarters

With the municipal election just under three months away, incumbent Mayor Jim Watson officially opened his campaign office Sunday afternoon.

He says the laid out a clear plan in the campaign four years ago and hopes to build on that during this one.

He says the theme of this campaign will be "progress," and although he has many priorities, his biggest one will be Ottawa's transit.

"We want to make sure we don't let up on that momentum and we don't let anyone stop us in moving forward better transit options for all of Ottawa's residents," he said.

Among the many supporters at the event was Ottawa Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi, who says he's happy with Watson's plan and what the mayor's already done.

Watson has four opponents looking to take his job: Mike Maguire, Robert White, Darren Wood, and Bernard Couchman.

The election is on October 27.
