Environment Canada warns of heavy rains for Ottawa, Gatineau, the valley

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of heavy rainfall for the city of Ottawa, Gatineau, Prescott and Russell, Petawawa, Pembroke, Cobden, Renfrew, Arnprior, Calabogie, Smiths Falls, Perth, and Eastern Lanark County.

The service says a complex low pressure system is set to move across the Great Lakes from the southwest. They say it should reach the North Bay area Tuesday night.

Environment Canada warns that for Eastern Ontario the majority of the rain that is produced by this system will fall Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Rainfall amounts of 15 to 40 mm are expected in most places with some locally higher amounts possible.

Environment Canada will monitor this situation very closely.
