The annual St. Albert Curd Festival is back for another season.
This celebration is about more than just cheese - it's also about restoration of a local landmark.
the St-Albert Cheese Co-operative's factory, which employes a large portion of people living in the community.
The original factory burned down some 18-months ago, forcing the co-op to rebuild. The new state-of-the-art factory is almost complete.
"The official go - that should come in in a few hours or a few days, but at least the public will be able to see from the mezzanine the inside of the factory," said festival organizer Daniel Simoncic.
The new viewing room, which has windows stretching over 200 linear feet overlooking the production area will be open to visitors.
The festival runs through the weekend and includes concerts, entertainment and of course curds.
