The Great Places in Canada contests is on again and a local landmark is up for national recognition.
The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum has been nominated in the public spaces category of the annual competition.
Andrew Sacret, the director of public policy and affairs with the Canadian Institute of Planners, told CFRA, the nominations come from the hearts of Canadians.
"They feel so inclined, they put their nominations in," he said.
He said the Museum is a strong contender.
"It's been nominated, I think, because it's a great place for people to bring their families, particularly on the weekend, to learn about agriculture and to have a bit of a respite from the busy city life," he said.
Other nominations include McCreary's Beach Resort in Perth, Wakefield Village and Calgary's Inglewood area.
Voting starts on August 20th.
Pp to six locations will take home the honour. Winners receive a plaque and prizes.
