The Ottawa Senators will be hitting the road Tuesday with their inaugural Hometown Tour.
With over a month before they take to NHL ice again to face the Islanders in the pre-season, the Sens are going on tour around Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, to meet with fans, sign autographs, and even hand out some prizes.
Ottawa Senators President Cyril Leeder tells CTV Ottawa, the Sens have fans all over the region.
"We are a regional team," Leeder says. "We certainly depend a lot on the city of Ottawa and the city of Gatineau, but outside of that we've got lots of fans that are in the Valley, in Western Quebec, and in Eastern Ontario. [The tour] is an opportunity for us to get our brand, and get our team out into the community, with some of our players and our coaching staff."
The event plans to have prizes, including a chance to win tickets to the Senators home opener against the Colorado Avalanche October 16th.
The Hometown Tour will travel around the area on the following dates:
- August 19 - Brockville and Cornwall
- August 20 - Kingston and Smiths Falls
- August 21 - Arnprior and Pembroke
- August 26 - Rockland and Hawkesbury
- August 27 - Gatineau and Aylmer, Quebec
- August 28 - Orleans and Barrhaven
Each event will be held at the local Canadian Tire, with the exception of the event in Smiths Falls, which will be held at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre, where the official ground breaking of the fourth phase of the Sens RINK (Recreational Investments in Neighbourhood for Kids) Project will be held.
Wristbands will be issued in limited quantity for autograph sessions at the service desk of the local Canadian Tire location starting at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the tour stop.
