Employee parking concerns rise over Ottawa Heart Institute expansion

The good news is the Ottawa Heart Institute is expanding.

The bad news is the hospital will lose one hundred parking spaces when construction starts.

The Civic Hospital will be asking most of its employees to park their cars off campus as of September 2nd.

Vice President of Finance and Business Development Richard Wilson says the people that will be given priority for spaces have mobility issues or need their cars to travel from campus to campus. The rest will be asked to park at the newly purchased spaces at Dows Lake and the Agriculture Museum.

CUPE 4000 President Rob Driscoll says there have never been enough parking spaces at the hospital to begin with.
