Hunt Club finally linked to Highway 417

Hunt Club Road is now officially an Ottawa bypass.

The $58-million Hunt Club extension and interchange to Highway 417 was officially opened Thursday morning. The ramp onto the 417 is open, but the ramps from the highway onto Hunt Club onto open at 2 p.m.

Ottawa South MPP John Fraser says the new interchange will have a huge impact, not only for truck drivers trying to access the highway, but also for residents looking to get to the Ottawa airport more quickly.

Local business representatives say it's a big win for local business parks and local residents, taking the pressure off other interchanges in east Ottawa.

The provincial government contributed $22-million to the project.

Bypass? What a joke. The "ring road/ bypass" concept has been completely mishandled. Typical arrogant misuse of tax payers dollars. Once again, I am hugely embarrassed on behalf of the citizens of Ottawa.
