Social Forum march to cause downtown traffic distruptions

Expect some disruptions in the downtown area Thursday afternoon.

The "People's Social Forum," connected to dozens of unions and progressive activist groups, plans a three-pronged march to Parliament Hill, beginning around 2 p.m.

One group will leave from Jacques Cartier Park, another from Victoria Island, and a third from the War Museum, meaning rolling traffic closures on the Alexandra, Portage, and Chaudiere bridges, as well as Wellington and Booth Streets in Ottawa, and Rue Laurier in Gatineau.

The marchers are expected to assemble on Parliament Hill by 4:30 p.m.
