Search continues for Valérie Leblanc's killer, three years after her death

A vigil was held on Saturday afternoon to honour Valérie Leblanc, three years after her death.

On August 23, 2011 the 18-year-old's body was discovered in a wooded area behind the Cégep de l'Outaouais, badly burned and mutilated.

Gatineau Police have been investigating her death, releasing the sketch of a man believed to be a person of interest and offering a $10,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest.

So far, they've received about 1,900 tips from the public about Valérie Leblanc's death.

At the vigil, her father told CTV that he hopes this renews the search for his daughter's killer saying that he fears it could happen to someone else if they're not caught.

Earlier this year Leblanc's grandmother petitioned to have the Sûreté du Québec take over the investigation but the request was denied.

Anyone with information about this case can call the Gatineau Police at 819-243-2346 ext. 6677.
