Ontario Provincial Police have a road blocked off in Petawawa as they deal with what's believed to be a standoff with a gunman who is inside a home.
There is a large police presence on Labine Crescent, including the OPP tactical and emergency response units. Officers have been called in from across the province to deal with the situation, which has been ongoing since 10 p.m. Thursday night.
CTV Ottawa reports residents have been told they can take shelter at a community centre, but if they choose to stay in their homes they should lock the doors, close the blinds and go to their basements.
Police say they do not believe there is any danger to the public.
