Petawawa standoff ends peacefully

The Ontario Provincial Police report that a 36-hour standoff in Petawawa ended peacefully on Saturday.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP said that around 12:25 P.M. today, a 44-year-old man surrendered to police and was transported to hospital. No one was injured.

The siege began Thursday night, when police were called to a residence on Labine Crescent with reports that a man who was believed to be armed with a gun had barricaded himself inside.

The OPP hasn`t confirmed whether any weapon was recovered.
