VIA Rail service has resumed along the Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto corridor, after delays Sunday evening due to a fatal collision.
A spokesperson for VIA Rail says a trespasser on the tracks was struck and killed around 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the Carlsbad Springs area.
The 119 passengers aboard train #59 were delayed by about 2 hours, the spokesperson said. Buses had been chartered for those passengers, but in the end they didn't need them, and they remained on the train. None of the passengers were harmed in the incident.
However, passengers waiting in Ottawa, bound for Toronto, were boarded onto a bus.
VIa Rail also says three other trains traveling from Montreal along the corridor to Ottawa were also delayed.
VIA says trains along the corridor will be moving normally Monday morning.
