A precautionary Boil Water advisory is in effect for around 600 residences in Carlsbad Springs.
Ottawa Public Health issued the advisory early Thursday morning, saying residents should boil water for at least a minute, until further notice.
The agency says the precaution applies to people on the Carlsbad Trickle Feed Water System.
The advisory comes after a drop in pressure in the area's water system because of damage from a construction project.
Ottawa Public Health says that reduction in pressure means groundwater or soil contamination could potentially seep into the watermain pipes through small cracks or leaks.
The City is coordinating water sampling and quality testing.
Affected users are asked to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for all consumption purposes, including drinking, making juice, ice and infant formula, as well as for use in food preparation.
