Ottawa Police officer guilty of six internal charges

An Ottawa Police officer currently on suspension without pay has been found guilty of six internal charges including insubordiation, corruption and deceit.

A hearing found Sergeant Rohan Beebakhee met with sex-trade workers while in uniform, and would arrive in a cruiser with a junior officer occasionally along for the ride.

Beebakhee insisted he was trying to inform the workers that police were there if needed, however several escorts felt he was using his badge to get sex.

The deciet charge is related to the Sergeant accessing information in the police database for personal reasons.

Submissions for sentencing will continue in February as Beebakhee may face dismissal.
