Police seek witness of west-end collision that left cyclist in critical condition

Ottawa Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a person they believe may have witnessed a serious collision involving a cyclist that took place last Saturday in the city's west end.

The 20-year-old cyclist, who remains in critical condition, was struck by a vehicle at the corner of Woodroffe and Medhurst last Saturday.

Detective Alain Boucher told CFRA News the vehicle is believed to be a four-door sedan, possibly light-coloured. He said it's likely the witness was driving behind the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

"Some witnesses believe they can’t add any value to the investigation. Unfortunately, we'd rather be the people deciding that. Sometimes the witnesses may have seen something but didn’t totally recognize what they saw at the time."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 2481, or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
