5. Rangers a no-show

The Los Angeles Kings are one win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup after defeating the New York Rangers 3-0 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Game 4 is tomorrow night at 8 in New York. Game 3 of the NBA Finals between San Antonio and Miami is tonight at 9. That series is tied at 1. The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins 5-4.

4. Joe Oliver scolds Ontario and Quebec

The finance minister in the Harper government has indirectly entered the political election fray in Ontario. Federal finance Minister Joe Oliver says Ontario and Quebec are holding back the rest of Canada. He says the two provinces must start reining in their deficits for the well-being of the rest of the country and said both risk the possible downgrade by debt rating agencies that would push up borrowing costs and make their financial situations even worse.

3. Voter turnout may drop lower

The province may be headed for a record low turnout if the 6% decline in advance poll voting is an indication. One pollster believes this is an indication that undecided voters are making their decisions at the last minute, and did not feel prepared to vote in advance. Overall voter turnout in Ontario provincial elections has declined for the past 25 years from roughly 65% of eligible voters in 1990, to 48% in the last provincial election.

2. Murder suspect search continues

Ottawa Police still have no suspect in custody in the attack that left an 18-year-old Ottawa high school student dead early Saturday. Brandon Volpi's locker at St. Patrick's High School is covered in pictures posted by grieving classmates. Ottawa Police spokesperson, Const. Chuck Benoit, said, "They have a lot of witnesses, but there are people that still have to be spoken to that weren't on scene when police arrived."

1. Remembering the fallen

Thousands of police officers are in Moncton for the RCMP funeral of three officers slain in the line of duty. Const. Douglas James Larche from Saint John, Const. Dave Joseph Ross from Victoriaville, Que., and Const. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, from Boulogne-Billancourt, France, were killed in Moncton last Wednesday. A group of between 50 and 75 Ottawa Police officers have made their way to Moncton, among them, Ottawa Police Chief Bordeleau and Deputy Chief, Jill Skinner.
